POSITION AVAILABLE:
Full-time, 1.0 LTS (Long Term Substitute). The position is available through June 4, 2026. ESTIMATED INTERVIEW DATE:
Ongoing.

WORK CALENDAR:
See calendar for work days. SALARY RANGE: $50,525 - $91,753 annually (prorated based upon hire date). Salary based on level of education and full years of licensed teaching experience. Benefits are available for teaching positions at or above 0.5 FTE (Half Time Employment) and higher. Contact Employee Services for detailed benefits information.

Responsibilities
  • Work with high-risk youth and their families within the school setting, providing a wide range of services including individual sessions, group sessions, chemical health education, family support and guidance, triage coordination, prevention education, and staff support.
  • Serve as a member of the chemical health and emotional well-being team to ensure the site is equipped with chemical health support.
  • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with students, acting as a role model with positive, proactive, and respectful communication.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support, individualized interventions, and crisis management.
  • Implement a curriculum addressing students’ needs based on treatment plans, in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Participate as a multidisciplinary team member, providing consultation and services; maintain accurate records of services provided to students.
  • Provide education to students on substance use and coping skills; conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans; support individualized treatment strategies aligned with students’ needs and goals.
  • Contribute to a comprehensive set of services with a multidisciplinary team; ensure ongoing staff development and site improvement goals.
Essential Duties
  • Chemical Dependency Counseling: develop therapeutic relationships, provide crisis management, and deliver education on substance use and coping skills.
Inservice and Professional Development
  • Provide in-service education to school personnel to promote healthy decision making around chemical health and to respond appropriately to concerns.
  • Participate in data retreats and leadership/intervention teams to address student needs and site improvement goals.
  • Participate in orientation sessions for new teachers and student teachers as necessary.
Other Duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Required Experience:

    - Experience working with school-age students - Experience with mental health counseling - Experience with Alcohol and Drug Counseling - Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Preferred Experience:

    - Experience working with school-age students in a school setting - Master s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education, or related field
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    Current PELSB license in Social Work, School Counseling, Teacher, or related field. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor license.

Demonstrates continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development. Working knowledge of subject matter, classroom management techniques, current best practices and strategies, and understanding of students  learning and affective needs.
