Chemistry Teaching Specialist

About the JobUMR seeks a qualified, non‑tenure track instructor with a strong interest in supporting student learning in a high‑contact model inside and outside the classroom and laboratory. The role will work collaboratively and creatively with established faculty, including team‑teaching, and will be responsible for designing and implementing chemistry courses and facilitating department‑wide data collection.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver undergraduate general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry courses for health sciences students.
- Prepare and teach lab sessions, grade student submissions, and supervise undergraduate teaching assistants.
- Collaborate on lecture preparation and delivery in interactive classroom and lab settings.
- Participate in weekly hours at the Just ASK center and other service duties as assigned (10% of time).
- Support department data collection efforts aligned with course delivery.
- Master’s or doctorate degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of chemistry fundamentals and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with interdisciplinary teams and chemistry education research‑based innovative instruction.
- Comfortable working independently and within a team.
- Commitment to exemplary teaching and student mentorship.
- Understanding of High Impact Practices in an undergraduate setting.
Pay Range: $55,000 – $65,000 (depending on education, qualifications, and experience)
Time Appointment: 100% (full‑time)
