Responsibilities- Employee may need to provide services in home on an as needed basis
- Staff may be required to report in person to a school building on an as needed basis
- May monitor and/or supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground in all types of weather.
- Follow student Behavior Intervention Plans and Emergency Healthcare Plans.
- Provide support to students with personal cares (toileting, dressing, feeding) as needed
- Ability to work with a wide variety of students with different disabilities
- Observe and document students' academic and social behaviors.
- Consistent and accurate data collection of student progress on goals and objectives
- Provide feedback on student progress to classroom teachers and related services staff
- Knowledge using iPads and other devices used for communication of non-verbal students
- Support students with de-escalation techniques and use restrictive procedures as needed (Training provided as needed).
- Supervise students in various settings and locations in and around the school building, before, during and after school hours.
- Move on and off the floor to meet students at their level
- Provide Support/Supervision at meal times, at recess and on field trips
- Model appropriate language and social behavior
- Able to build strong relationships with children from all backgrounds and neuro-types.
- Maintain confidentiality
- Effective communication with all staff
- Good organizational skills.
- Regular, on-time attendance is required.
- Minimum requirement; 60 college semester credits and/or a two-year degree from an accredited college or university. Please include official transcript(s) with application.
- In lieu of college credits or degree, one can complete the Para educator Assessments. The passing scores in Minnesota are 65% and 70% .

- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with elementary age students.
- Computer skills preferred.
- Flexibility and the ability to work as a cooperative team member.
- Positive rapport with children including the ability to correct inappropriate student behavior with fairness and consistency.
- Regular, on-time attendance is required.
- Believes that all students can attain high levels of learning.
- Takes responsibility for the learning of our students and his/her own performance.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills to build effective educational experiences that benefit all students.
- Functions as an effective member of the educational/school team.
- Won't shy away from today's educational challenges.
- Utilizes effective interpersonal skills.
