Estimator - Mechanical Construction
Rochester, MN | Direct Hire | $64K–$97K

We’re partnering with a nationally recognized mechanical contractor to hire an Estimator for their Rochester, MN office. This role supports plumbing, piping, and/or sheet metal scopes and offers exposure to plan/spec, design‑assist, and design‑build projects across a wide range of industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed estimating work, collaboration with internal teams, and long‑term career growth within a stable, well‑resourced organization.

Estimator

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates for medium to large plan/spec, design‑assist, and design‑build projects, including full quantity takeoffs using mechanical estimating software
  • Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements
  • Develop proposals, evaluate design options, and recommend cost‑effective solutions aligned with project goals
  • Obtain and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing; track costs and compare actuals to bid estimates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams while supporting other mechanical disciplines, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a safety‑focused culture
Estimator Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, engineering, or the trades
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems
  • Experience with mechanical estimating software, specifically Auto Bid Mechanical and Sheet Metal, Bluebeam, Excel and Word
  • Ability to interpret cost data and estimating systems
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred
