Job Description & How to Apply Below

This undergraduate internship is a full-time position Summer-Fall 2027 (May or June through December) on site in Rochester, Minnesota.

Join a team where development engineering intersects with world-class healthcare delivery and research. The Division of Engineering designs and implements innovative solutions for a wide variety of priorities at Mayo Clinic. We are a unique resource for a healthcare institution, and one that helps Mayo Clinic maintain its #1 rating in the country for healthcare delivery.

We seek a highly qualified undergraduate student in engineering or a quality related field to assist our quality engineer with tasks such as: maintaining our current quality management system (QMS), writing QMS documents for patient-matched 3D printed titanium implants, design verification and validation activities, process validation, and acceptance testing.

The primary purpose of the Undergraduate Engineer Internship is to provide an undergraduate engineering student with relevant engineering experiences. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction and guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for learning the procedures and processes of the Division of Engineering and the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern will be given selected engineering work assignments to reinforce the learning experience and to provide benefit to the work unit.

The engineering assignments may include gathering user needs, documenting requirements and specifications, performing design verification and design validation activities, troubleshooting, and participating in design reviews. All assignments are within the context of the Division of Engineering Quality Management System (including safety risk management) and are performed in a multi-disciplinary development environment. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo Clinic and the participating educational institution (if applicable).
