Overview
The City of Rochester now welcomes applications for Police Officers. Consider this career with the City of Rochester. Both new and lateral officer applications encouraged. New officers are individuals with no or limited policing experience. They may be eligible to be licensed under MN POST at the time of application having completed all requirements or they may be scheduled to complete MN POST requirements prior to June 25, 2026.
Lateral officers are currently employed as police officers, sheriff's deputies, or state troopers in Minnesota or another state. They have enough experience to begin as Rochester Police Department officers and complete an expedited training program. Their salary will be based on their individual experience, job knowledge, and level of skill. We look forward to your application! Remember to include both a cover letter and a resume.

2026 wage range is $40.52 to $56.17

What is it like to work here?
Applicants must- Possess a valid Minnesota Peace Officer license, be eligible to be licensed by the MN POST Board, or be enrolled in a MN Skills program with a scheduled completion date prior to June 25, 2026; and
- Possess a valid driver's license.
