Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Brewer Collaboratory
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the community-engaged research team led by principal investigator, Dr. La Princess Brewer, within the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine. The fellow will advance the FAITH! (Fostering African American Improvement in Total Health!) Emergency Preparedness Initiative, providing culturally relevant resources to African American faith communities to build capacity for emergency response, including cardiac events, public health crises, severe weather, and other emergencies.
The position offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative, equity-focused preventive cardiology research using community-based participatory research (CBPR). The fellow will work with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, community partners, and other stakeholders, communicate directly with community members and study participants, and lead data analysis and manuscript efforts.

Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to research activities related to the FAITH! Emergency Preparedness Initiative, including study design, implementation, data analysis, and dissemination.
- Analyze existing quantitative and qualitative datasets and develop manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, progress reports, and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with community partners, including faith leaders and organizations, to promote trust-based, culturally informed engagement.
- Contribute to other CBPR projects led by Dr. Brewer’s team, focusing on developing digital health interventions and culturally tailored cardiovascular prevention strategies for African American communities.
- Participate in regular mentoring meetings, seminars, and professional development opportunities to advance academic and leadership skills.
Qualifications
Required
- Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a field deemed relevant by the program. Research Fellow is appropriate for individuals who have completed no more than one prior postdoctoral fellowship, at Mayo Clinic or elsewhere.
- Demonstrated experience in community-engaged or health disparities research
- Strong scientific writing skills, with evidence of first-author manuscripts, publications, or equivalent writing-intensive research experience.
- Proficiency in data analysis (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings.
Preferred
- Familiarity with CBPR principles and approaches.
- Experience working with African American faith-based or community organizations.
- Background or interest in preventive cardiology, digital health, or emergency preparedness.
- Experience in project management or coordination of multi-site or CBPR projects.

Compensation Detail
$64,079 - $74,963 / year;
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Primarily business hours Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends as needed. Hybrid position with expectations of at least 2-3 days per week on campus.
