Therapy Clinical Education Specialist (TCES)
Location:
Rochester, MN
Salary: $91,561.60 – $ / year
Schedule:
Full Time (Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm, occasional early/late hours); occasional weekend coverage for courses/conferences required.

- Collaborate with therapy and department leadership to plan educational opportunities supporting strategic goals.
- Work with Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE), managers, supervisors and clinical‑lead therapists to design and implement departmental competencies.
- Partner with CCCE, managers, supervisors and Clinical Education Coordinators (CEC) to mentor and establish educational activities for therapy personnel.
- Plan and deliver annual competency programs, ongoing staff mentoring, continuing therapy education activities and professional development within a collaborative practice framework.
- Collaborate with educators across the Mayo Clinic Enterprise to support standardization and continuous improvement.
- Track educational and competency activities of employees with administrative support.
- Serve as educator, mentor, facilitator, change agent, consultant and leader.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or related field.
- Licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist in Minnesota, or ability to obtain licensure within three months.
- Minimum of three years of clinical therapy experience within the past ten years.
- Active membership, including leadership experience, in a professional organization (e.g., AOTA, APTA).
- Experience in educational programming with demonstrated teaching skills.
- Knowledge of adult learning methods.
- Organizational skills: manage multiple priorities, maintain structure, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Communication: clear, effective verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization.
- Interpersonal effectiveness: build and maintain positive, respectful, productive relationships with a wide range of individuals.
- Leadership & initiative: take responsibility for outcomes, exercise sound judgment, demonstrate problem‑solving and self‑direction.
- Collaboration:
work cooperatively with colleagues and teams to achieve shared objectives. - Decision‑making: gather, analyze and prioritize information to make well‑informed and effective decisions.
- Adaptability: adjust effectively to changing priorities, environments and unexpected challenges.
- Educational focus in master’s or doctoral program and/or certification in teaching adult learners.
