Supervisor, Revenue Cycle – Financial Counseling

This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site expectations based on business needs.

Supervises and directs professional and support staff for the Revenue Cycle ensuring effective use of employees, equipment & materials within budget & quality standards. Responsible for full spectrum of human resources and operational functions and workflows, including but not limited to performance management, attendance management, training, and quality. Identifies trends, performs tactical planning and carries out strategic plans. Ensures staff has the resources to carry out their responsibilities.

Optimizes staff productivity and service; resolves workplace problems of team and processes; develops policies, procedures and guidelines. Possesses the technical knowledge of the function being supervised. Implements retention and recruitment planning initiatives. Participates in the overall management of Revenue Cycle teams through involvement in Enterprise-wide projects, work groups, task forces, councils, and committees. Serves as liaison between area of responsibility and other constituents inside and outside of Mayo.

Acts as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of supervision, members of the management team, and different sections within the Revenue Cycle and multiple areas outside of the Revenue Cycle. Maintains expert knowledge of workflows within the scope of responsibility and optimizes the use of available technology. May require occasional travel.

The Financial Counseling Supervisor serves as the frontline operational leader responsible for developing staff, driving performance, leading change, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting Mayo Clinic’s mission through exceptional patient financial experiences.

The Supervisor is responsible for balancing people leadership, operational management, strategic initiatives, and organizational change while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, transparency, and continuous improvement.

The Supervisor serves as the primary connection between frontline Financial Counseling staff and leadership by translating organizational priorities into actionable workflows, measurable outcomes, and sustainable improvements.

This role requires advanced knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations, Financial Counseling workflows, patient access functions, payer requirements, financial clearance processes, Epic functionality, and patient financial experience principles.

The FC Supervisor is expected to model Mayo Clinic values, demonstrate leadership presence, lead through influence, communicate effectively during change, and support enterprise-wide strategic priorities.
