Responsibilities

The registered nurse (RN) coordinates all nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care for a medical unit with 24 beds in Hospital Internal Medicine. The RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates phases of nursing care within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, leading through preceptor roles, mentoring, quality‑improvement activities, and committee participation when appropriate.

Qualifications

Graduate of an ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA‑accredited nursing program, with at least one year of RN experience. Entry‑level associate‑degree RNs must provide documented evidence of completing a baccalaureate nursing degree within five years of RN start date (or by the time of hire for those whose start date is prior to April 1 2020). Must hold current RN license for applicable state(s).

Qualifications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience working in a team; computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic medical records preferred. Ability to work flexible hours—days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on‑call. Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and adaptability in unpredictable situations.

License And Certification (Must Obtain Prior To Start Date)

BLS (Basic Life Support) valid for 90 days after start date; additional specialty certification or state licensure as required by the work area.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay range: $42.84 – $70.41 per hour. Full‑time, variable schedule including days, evenings, nights, 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts; variable weekend shifts.

Hours:

48–72 per week.
