As a Medical Technologist, you will perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, and troubleshoot and correct laboratory issues to ensure accurate test outcomes.

• Perform complex laboratory procedures; recognize deviation from expected results; analyze and correct problems.
• Compare patient information on specimens with computer-generated labels to ensure all labels consistently match.
• Performs instrument QC as required, adheres to established quality control policies, and accurately troubleshoots unacceptable quality control.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and proficiency testing.
• Evaluate and ensure test results correlate with diagnosis and each other, and understand age-specific normal values.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new methodologies.
• Understand all procedures as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals.
• Develop skills and knowledge to assist various departments of the laboratory.
• Train new employees and other laboratory personnel as requested.
• Instruct hospital and other non-laboratory personnel on proper lab procedures and policies.
• Prepare specimens and route them to the appropriate reference laboratory for testing not performed on site.
• Perform scheduled instrument maintenance procedures.
• Perform correlation studies on new lots of chemicals, reagents, kits, and media or on new methodologies.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary procedures accurately as requested.
• Order and restock supplies as needed; may be required to lift heavy objects.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field; MT(ASCP)/MLS(ASCP) eligible or equivalent for Technologist.
• Copy of academic degree or transcript required.
