Front Desk/Receptionist, Office Administrator/ Coordinator
Seneca Park Zoo Society is seeking a part-time Receptionist to serve as the administrative front door to the zoo, handling incoming calls, greeting guests, and performing general office tasks.

- Working Hours: Part-time, year-round; 10-20 hours per week
The Seneca Park Zoo Society is seeking an employee to support the Zoo as the administrative “front door,” handling incoming calls, greeting guests, and performing general office tasks.
Responsibilities- Maintain a positive first impression for callers and guests.
- Answer the main phone line and direct calls accordingly.
- Provide accurate and current information to all guests and callers.
- Follow established Zoo protocols for emergencies, first aid, lost & found, and lost child.
- Use two-way radio to communicate with Zoo staff and supervisors.
- Accept and log deliveries; notify recipients of package arrivals and vendors on site.
- Open and respond to reception e-mails.
- Schedule use of the Conference Center upon request.
- Sort incoming mail and distribute appropriately after daily mail receipt.
- Post outgoing mail and monitor postal supplies.
- Assist other departments as needed.
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical RequirementsSitting in an office environment and walking between zoo offices for mail distribution; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.; requires seeing, speaking, hearing, and talking to guests and staff.
Work EnvironmentBusy office environment; working nights and weekends is expected.
Experience Requirements- Minimum of three years’ experience in an office environment, preferably customer service.
- Excellent customer service skills in person and on phone.
- Ability to absorb and retain a wide array of details.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Office 365.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure or in emergency situations.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
- Valid NYS driver’s license required for use of golf cart to transport guests and/or materials, when necessary.
