Job Opportunity

The Department of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, is actively seeking an A  certified/eligible pediatric interventional radiologist to lead and develop a program in a growing and active pediatric hospital (Golisano Children’s Hospital) within the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). This opportunity provides a chance to practice in a new pediatric IR suite (opening summer/fall 2023) within our Children’s hospital but with easy access to the adult IR faculty group and facilities at URMC and affiliates.

The Children’s Hospital is a tertiary care referral center for a large catchment area, providing high quality subspecialty services including pediatric intensive care, pediatric cardiac critical care, and neonatal intensive care, all with 24/7 attending coverage as well as pediatric anesthesia & sedation, pediatric heme/oncology including bone marrow transplant, high volume obstetrics/maternal‑fetal medicine, pediatric surgery (level 1 trauma center), and a highly collaborative hospital medicine services.

This position provides the possibility of combining pediatric IR with either pediatric diagnostic imaging or adult IR. The ideal candidate would possess expertise in all areas of interventional radiology with considerable experience in pediatrics and have completed an integrated IR/ESIR residency or fellowship training. The candidate would be joining an active program with support from our other subspecialty programs to grow services such as vascular/lymphatic malformation treatments and to develop future programs in interventional oncology and liver transplant.

The position is supported by our APP program, imaging & pediatric nursing, our radiologic technologists, and our medical/surgical services, with the goal of providing support for seamless and comprehensive patient care within imaging for both inpatients and outpatients.

Academic and Clinical Setting

Recognized as a world leader in radiological imaging, education, and research, the Department of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester has approximately 90 faculty and is highly innovative with transparent salary and incentive structures, and a residency leadership program. Our academic center has newly renovated adult IR suites, strong PET‑MRI and PET‑CT programs, as well as two dual energy CTs and state‑of‑the‑art MRI updated to the Prisma platform.

We have active plans to obtain a 7T MRI for clinical and research use, and currently have a 9T animal PET‑MRI. Our PACS is integrated across the enterprise and will be updated to Sectra over this year. There are many opportunities to develop research in collaboration with clinical and basic science colleagues.

Location

Rochester is a mid‑sized city with extensive cultural and recreational opportunities. These include the Eastman School of Music, Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Strong Museum of Play, the George Eastman Museum, Seneca Zoo, multiple theaters hosting Broadway plays, and numerous outdoor summer festivals. Housing is affordable and there are excellent public schools. The Finger Lakes region of New York is famous for its outdoor sports and is the 3rd largest wine region in the United States.

Compensation

Annual Salary $499,800 - $540,600

Additional compensation in form of clinical and non‑clinical incentives.

Compensation and benefit packages are highly competitive, including 403B and 457 plans, disability insurance, and tuition benefits. As a non‑profit institution, service time may count toward the public service federal loan forgiveness program. Faculty enjoy competitive vacation and conference time each year.
