The Cafeteria Aide plays an important role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming lunch environment for our students. This position supports daily cafeteria operations by assisting students with their lunches, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an efficient meal experience. The Cafeteria Aide reports directly to the Director of Operations.

• Assist students during lunch with opening items, distributing utensils and milk, and finding seating.
• Monitor student behavior and promote a respectful, positive environment during meal periods.
• Support the setup and cleanup of cafeteria tables, serving areas, and trash bins.
• Wipe tables, sweep floors, and ensure cleanliness throughout and after each lunch period.
• Assist in organizing lunch lines and ensuring safe traffic flow in and out of the cafeteria.
• Follow all food safety, allergy, and sanitation guidelines.
• Communicate any student or operational concerns to the Director of Operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of food service.

Provide friendly and respectful assistance to students during meal service. Model positive behavior and reinforce school expectations.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dining space. Assist with daily setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and trash bins.

Follow school and state food service safety standards. Support emergency or evacuation procedures when needed.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with children and adults.
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to follow directions and school protocols.

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Prior experience in food service or working in a school environment (preferred).
• Experience working in an urban school setting (preferred).

This is an in-person position based in the school cafeteria. Requires standing, lifting, bending, and cleaning throughout the day.

Hours:

Monday–Friday, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. (school year only). Position Type:
Part-Time.
