  • During the school calendar year: 1:30 pm – 9:00 pm
  • During school breaks: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm or 10:30 am – 6:00 pm
  • During school half days: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
  • During summer months: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm or 10:00 am – 5:30 pm
Overview

The Social Learning Specialist (SLS) is part of a R‑Center support services team. The SLS works to create a youth/family/faculty‑friendly presence within the R‑Centres that is founded on cooperative relationships and direct communication. They are able to provide the full continuum of care; specific areas of focus are prevention education, social/emotional support services and immediate crisis response. They will also deliver a variety of best‑practice and research‑based services (i.e., groups, workshops, curricula), as needed, with a focus on the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

They also provide access to additional resources from The Center for Youth. This is a full‑time, 12‑month position.

Responsibilities
  • Administers, coordinates and oversees programs in alignment with R Center programming
  • Works in tandem with R‑Center Administrators to assure services are based on identified needs and meets with the R‑center staff on a regular basis
  • Attend R‑Center Support Service meetings
  • Deliver a restorative‑based system
  • Create and oversee data collection and program evaluation processes
  • Provide monthly reports to the Assistant Director of Prevention Education
  • Coordinate requests for Prevention Education services
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with funder and agency requirements
  • Outreach and information dissemination
  • Referral and referral readiness
  • Immediate response and support
  • Prevention education with fidelity including asset‑building groups, research‑based curricula, planned duplication and booster sessions
  • Asset development (risk reduction and protective factor) activities
  • Alternative services including pre/post assessment and transitional services
  • Agency ambassador and liaison
  • Knowledge of R‑Center policies and procedures
  • Research and design of services including outcome and impact tracking
  • Record keeping, evaluation and QA
  • Development and maintenance of resource files, lesson plans and training aids
  • Participation in individual supervision and all mandated meetings and trainings

Qualifications

A Bachelors Degree in a Human Service or related field AND 1‑3 years of related experience OR equivalent combination.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to be autonomously mobile in order to provide the required services.

Computer Skills Requirements

Microsoft Office - Basic skill level
