Swim Lessons Instructor
Location:
Rochester JCC
- Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the site's instructional guidelines.
- Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate students’ progress.
- Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
- Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
- Attend all in‑service trainings.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
- Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught at all levels.
- Effectively communicate each student’s progress either to the student directly or to the student’s parents where appropriate.
- Project and promote a professional image.
- Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
- Prior experience lifesaving or teaching swim lessons highly preferred.
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Compensation and BenefitsPay ranges from $18.00/hour to $22.00/hour. Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay is dependent on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, and work experience as well as other business needs.
