Location:

Rochester JCC

• Teach various levels and age groups in accordance with the site's instructional guidelines.
• Plan lessons, select appropriate drills, and evaluate students’ progress.
• Present proper demonstrations and explain skills, analyze and correct performance, minimize fear, and use appropriate teaching devices.
• Maintain a safe and positive teaching environment.
• Attend all in‑service trainings.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare course completion certificates.
• Perform all swimming strokes and skills taught at all levels.
• Effectively communicate each student’s progress either to the student directly or to the student’s parents where appropriate.
• Project and promote a professional image.
• Explain and enforce facility regulations, policies, and procedures to patrons.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
• Prior experience lifesaving or teaching swim lessons highly preferred.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Pay ranges from $18.00/hour to $22.00/hour. Minimum rates may vary based on local wage laws. Pay is dependent on factors including site location, specialty, certifications, and work experience as well as other business needs.
