Job Summary
The postdoctoral researcher will primarily work with the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts to conduct research, write, and publish scholarly work on faculty governance in higher education. The position offers an opportunity to explore faculty participation in strategic planning, budgeting, and institutional decision‑making. The researcher may facilitate discussions within the university community, attend local faculty governance meetings, and investigate how governance structures affect institutional resilience and reputation.

Potential research areas include:
- Examining current levels of faculty involvement in strategic and financial decision‑making.
- Analyzing how the extent and nature of participation influence institutional outcomes.
- Investigating the relationship between governance and institutional stability, especially during crises.
- Exploring the broader political context affecting higher education and the impact of governance on institutional reputation.
- Write articles, present results at academic conferences, publish articles or book chapters.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate students employed on the project.
- Explore and apply for external funding related to the project along with the Dean and other campus partners.
- Host discussions on campus related to faculty governance.
- Attend community organization meetings related to faculty governance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- PhD in humanities, social science, education, or a related field.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Qualitative research methods, especially conducting and analyzing interviews.
- Ability to write formal papers and present at conferences.
- Effective communication and networking across diverse audiences.
- Designing curriculum and assignments to engage students.
- Experience in developing and testing experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
Full‑time. Salary range: $50,000 – $58,000 per year.
