Job Summary

The Golisano Outreach Archives Assistant supports public-facing initiatives that engage the RIT community and the public with the

B. Thomas Golisano Collection held by the RIT Archives. Working under the guidance of the Innovation & Engagement Archivist, the assistant develops physical and digital exhibitions, conducts and transcribes oral histories, collaborates with faculty to integrate collection materials into classes, and supports public programming and events related to the collection. This role provides an early career opportunity for a recent graduate to gain in-depth and rich hands-on experience in archival outreach, curation, public history, and donor relations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Curating and installing physical and digital exhibits related to the

    B. Thomas Golisano Collection
  • Collaborate with RIT faculty and adjuncts in teaching with materials in the

    B. Thomas Golisano collection
  • Conducting oral histories to expand upon and enhance what is already in the

    B. Thomas Golisano collection
  • Coordinate logistics for events and public programs related to the

    B. Thomas Golisano Collection
  • Communicate and collaborate with Golisano Foundation as needed to support program goals
  • Provide general support in the RIT Archives, including assisting with reference requests, project-based work, and departmental initiatives
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree:
    Museum Studies or History
  • At least 1 year of experience (including internships, student work, or capstone projects) working in archives, museums, public history, or special collections settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong interest in exhibition development, historical research, and public programming.
  • Ability to organize and track multiple projects.
  • Strong organization skills and attend to detail.
  • Experience working in collaborative team environments.
  • Experience with archival standards and practices.
  • Comfort with learning new technologies and platforms.
  • Discretion when working with restricted materials.
  • Ability to work with staff, students, faculty, and donors.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with and/or interest in archives and history.
  • Knowledge of digitization best practices and digital preservation tools.
  • Experience with the backend of digital asset management systems.
Employment Category

Fulltime. Wage Band: $18 - $30.
