Job Description
Federal Work Study position for Student Employee in the First Year Experience (FYE) Admissions program.
- Support the development and implementation of campus-wide programming
- Communicate effectively and inclusively with peers and professional staff
- Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and time management in a campus setting
- Foster an environment of belonging and engagement for first‑year students
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, promoting, and hosting FYE events on campus and in residence halls
- Support recreational and social activities designed to build community among first‑year students
- Collaborate with FYE staff and other ambassadors to brainstorm and set up engaging programming
- Greet and interact with event attendees in a friendly and inclusive manner
- Wear the MCC polo and name tag during all scheduled shifts and events
- Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.
- Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative college environment.
- Maintains technological competencies utilized by the college.
- Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.
- Commits to professional growth, which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity and inclusion to better serve students.
- Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (confirm eligibility with a Financial Aid representative).
- Current MCC student in good academic and judicial standing.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
- Comfortable working with diverse student populations.
- Must wear the MCC polo and name tag during all scheduled shifts and events.
- Reliable transportation.
- Availability to attend FYE staff meetings on Mondays at 4:00 PM.
- Experience in student activities, peer leadership, or event planning.
- Knowledge of MCC’s campus and a passion for helping new students feel connected.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for making events fun, inclusive, and memorable.
- Comfort engaging with diverse groups of students and families.
- Willingness to work evening and weekend events as needed.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Pay Rate: $15.50 per hour.
Hours per week:
Up to 20 hours per week.
