The School of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the Schools at Fisher, offering degrees in over 20 undergraduate disciplines. The School is home to over 1,000 undergraduate students majoring in the humanities, natural sciences and mathematics, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies. In addition, the School is primarily responsible for the Core Curriculum
, the program of liberal arts courses that all undergraduates take as central to their academic experience. In addition to attending graduate school in any number of disciplines, graduates of the School of Arts and Sciences pursue careers in such fields as marketing, medicine, law, broadcasting, sales, human resource management, advertising and public relations, social work, media relations, information analysis, and scientific research and analysis.

The Department of Media and Communication invites applications for assistant professor with a specialization in Public Relations (tenure track) to begin Fall 2026. This position will carry a three-three teaching load.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach in-person undergraduate courses in their area of specialization.
  • Contribute to major course requirements including introduction to public relations, media analytics, advertising consumer culture, social media management.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for the student-run PR agency initiatives, known as PRIMA / PRSSA
  • Collaborate within the department and across disciplines.

Education / Experience

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Communication, Strategic Communication, Public Relations (or a closely related field) by the time of appointment. ABD or other terminal degree with industry experience will be considered.

Excellent communication and teaching skills; proficiency with statistical tools and applications; proficiency with technology for teaching and research; collegiality and willingness to collaborate.
