Keystone Precision Solutions | Rochester, NY | Full-Time
If you want to be the person who opens the door, runs the operation, serves the customers, and takes ownership of a location from day one, this might be exactly what you're looking for.
Keystone Precision Solutions is opening a brand new office in Rochester, NY, and they're looking for the right person to be its foundation. You'll handle service and maintenance on professional surveying and geospatial equipment, manage walk-in customers, process supply orders, and keep the operation running smoothly. This isn't a role buried inside a large team. You are the team. And the company behind you has 30+ years of success, five established offices across the Northeast, and a proven playbook to support you.
WhyThis Role Stands Out
- Ground-floor opportunity. You'll be the first hire at a brand new Keystone location in Rochester, NY. The impact you make here is yours.
- Real variety. Your days will mix hands‑on equipment service, customer interaction, and supply sales. No two days will look the same.
- Independence with backup. You'll run the office day to day, but you're supported by an established company with inventory systems, operations processes, and experienced colleagues across the region.
- Room to grow. This role starts with preventative maintenance and clean-and-calibrate work, with the opportunity to learn more complex repairs and expand your responsibilities over time.
- Competitive pay plus bonus. $22 to $23/hour with quarterly bonus potential on top of your base.
Your days will blend service work, customer interaction, and office operations. You'll be the face of Keystone in Rochester, and that means wearing more than one hat. Specifically, you'll:
- Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, calibration, and service on professional surveying and geospatial equipment, including GNSS receivers, total stations, data collectors, levels, laser scanners, and related accessories
- Diagnose hardware, firmware, connectivity, and configuration issues and work through documented service procedures to resolve them (full training provided)
- Greet walk‑in customers, assess equipment brought in for service, and communicate repair timelines and status updates clearly and professionally
- Handle inside sales: process supply orders, manage inventory of the top-selling products, and assist customers with purchasing decisions for markers, measuring tapes, accessories, and other field supplies
- Manage the daily operation of the office: open and close the location, receive and distribute shipments, maintain accurate records of service activities, inventory, and transactions
- Collaborate remotely with KPS Sales, Support, Rental, and Service teams at other locations to coordinate equipment flow and customer needs across the region
- Maintain accountability for equipment and inventory in the office, with a focus on accuracy and proper documentation
The right person for this role brings a combination of reliability, hands‑on aptitude, and the kind of self‑sufficiency it takes to run a location independently. Specifically:
- A clean, verifiable background and a track record of trustworthiness
- Dependability and reliable transportation. You're the person opening the door every morning. There's no backup if you don't show up, and customers and colleagues across the region are counting on you.
- Comfort working independently. The nearest Keystone office is over 4 hours away. You'll have full support by phone, email, and video, but the day-to-day operation is yours to manage.
- Some hands‑on technical background: electronics, mechanical repair, equipment maintenance, or a related field. You don't need specific surveying experience. KPS…
