RIT's Department of Computer Engineering invites applications from highly motivated individuals looking to join a diverse, vibrant community of teacher-scholars as a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. Successful candidates are expected to build a strong externally-funded research program, advise Ph.D. and master’s students, develop and teach undergraduate and graduate classes, advise undergraduate researchers and design teams, and work collaboratively to advance the goals of the department.
We are currently seeking candidates with research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Edge AI, Heterogeneous Computing, Networking and IoT, Quantum Computing.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related field
- Ability and commitment to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
- Record of disseminating scholarly research in refereed (peer-reviewed) publications
- Demonstrated evidence of experience or potential to establish an independent externally-sponsored research program
- Expertise in the areas of Edge AI, Heterogeneous Computing, Networking and IoT, and/or Quantum Computing
- Excellent communication skills
- Interest in working in a collaborative, collegial environment
The Computer Engineering Department is one of six academic departments in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering. The Kate Gleason College of Engineering | RIT offers bachelor’s and master’s in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and microelectronics engineering as well as four Ph.D. degrees in biomedical and chemical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and industrial Engineering, and microsystems engineering and additional master’s programs in engineering management and leadership.
Serving over 2600 undergraduates and 400 graduate students, the college is committed to growing its research profile while maintaining a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Major research themes include advanced manufacturing; biomedical and healthcare engineering; artificial intelligence and machine learning; cyber-physical systems; micro- and nanoscale systems devices and materials; energy and environment; and data analysis modeling and simulation. Hallmarks of the undergraduate experience include one full year of cooperative education, an innovative multidisciplinary senior design program, and an impressive variety of well-supported student teams and clubs.
The Computer Engineering Department has about four hundred and fifty undergraduates, one hundred graduate students, and eighteen faculty and staff. The department is known for its outstanding curricula, career-oriented education, collaborative research and state-of-the-art laboratories and computing facilities. Faculty members are actively engaged in research, innovative teaching, and partnerships with industry, and participate in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Ph.D. and cross-disciplinary Ph.D. programs in Computing and Information Sciences, Microsystems Engineering, and Imaging Science.
