Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting a Mechanical Quality Test Technician for a manufacturing company in Rochester, NY.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled mechanical lab technician to support our engineering and testing teams. The role involves setting up and conducting mechanical tests, recording and analyzing data, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, set up, and operate laboratory equipment for mechanical testing (e.g., tensile, compression, fatigue, vibration, hardness tests).
- Assist engineers and researchers with prototype testing and validation.
- Collect and document test data accurately and assist in preparing technical reports.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of lab instruments and machinery.
- Ensure all lab activities comply with company safety protocols and industry standards.
- Support failure analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical components.
- Assist in fabricating test fixtures and mechanical assemblies.
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and consumables used in the lab.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including design, quality, and manufacturing.
- Education:
Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. - Experience:
1–3 years in a lab or mechanical testing environment preferred (entry‑level candidates may be considered).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and testing principles.
- Hands‑on experience with lab instruments and mechanical tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Proficiency in data collection and basic analysis (Excel, Lab View, etc.).
- Knowledge of safety practices in a lab environment.
- Experience with CNC machines, 3D printing, or other prototyping equipment.
- Familiarity with materials testing standards (ASTM, ISO, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD).
Compensation: $60,000-$70,000 per year
