Job Description
Join our Team as an Energy Storage Solutions Development Engineer!
The RoleWe’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Energy Storage Solutions Development Engineer to help shape the future of sustainable energy systems. In this role, you’ll design, test, and refine cutting‑edge battery and energy storage solutions that power tomorrow’s mobility and industrial applications. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams – including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers – to turn ideas into functional, high‑performing systems.
We value innovative and creative ideas – yes, even during meetings (where snacks are always welcome). If you enjoy tackling challenges with positivity and a bit of humor, you’ll feel right at home here.
- Develop mechanical, electrical, and thermal subsystems within advanced energy storage platforms to meet performance and safety goals.
- Partner with design, systems engineering and controls teams to provide technical feedback on CAD models, packaging layouts, system architecture and functional performance.
- Translate system requirements into test plans, hardware configurations, and validation activities with BMS and Test Engineering teams.
- Lead and assist in component- and system-level testing, including lab setup, data acquisition, and performance evaluation.
- Develop data analysis tools and analyze test data (CAN logs, thermal data, electrical measurements) to identify root causes, optimize performance, and drive design improvements.
- Support FMEA, DVP&R, and design review processes to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to integrate new technologies and validate prototype components.
- Document findings, contribute to internal design standards, and share knowledge to help grow team expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with experience in validation testing, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with CAN communication protocols, testing tools (e.g., CANalyzer, thermal sensors), and data analysis software (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Excel, R).
- Collaborative communicator who can influence design outcomes and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of UL2580, ISO 6469, or ISO 26262 standards (plus!).
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in battery systems, fuel cells, or high‑voltage energy platforms.
- Proven record of driving design validation and reliability improvements in energy storage or electrified systems.
- Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous learning.
- This is an in‑person role located at our Rochester, New York office – ideal for those who thrive in a hands‑on, team‑oriented environment.
Salary – $73,840 – $135,975 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.
