PPAP Quality Engineer
Base pay range: $38.00/hr - $45.00/hr
A growing precision manufacturing organization in Rochester, NY is looking for a PPAP Quality Engineer to take ownership of PPAP activities from start to finish. This role is hands‑on and closely tied to the shop floor, supporting inspections, nonconformance resolution, and quality lab activities while ensuring customer PPAP requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage PPAP submissions from kickoff through final approval
- Build PPAP documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection reports
- Work directly with manufacturing and engineering to support APQP activities
- Create and maintain in‑process inspection reports and related documentation
- Support NCR investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
- Assist with quality lab inspections, layouts, and measurement verification
- Support gauge R&R studies, calibration programs, and inspection equipment usage
- Serve as a quality resource during audits and customer interactions
Requirements
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in a machining or precision manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and control plans
- Experience supporting NCRs and corrective actions
- Comfortable working on the shop floor and in a quality lab environment
- Ability to read prints and understand GD&T
- Strong documentation and communication skills
