A well-regarded law firm in upstate New York is seeking a skilled Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to join its intellectual property team in either Rochester or Buffalo. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with 2-6 years of experience in patent prosecution and a technical background in one or more of the following: optics, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aerospace engineering.
This position is well-suited to someone who is passionate about innovation and enjoys working closely with a diverse client base. You'll be part of a collaborative legal team and expected to contribute 1,800 billable hours annually.
Candidates should bring strong analytical thinking, superior writing skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to clients and colleagues. A portable book of business is not required.
- Must be admitted to the New York State Bar or be willing to gain admission.
- 2-6 years of patent prosecution experience and a background in optics, physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aerospace engineering
- Candidates relocating from out of state may be temporarily hired as a Law Clerk while awaiting bar admission.
- Must have excellent analytical, writing, communication, and client service skills.
- Writing samples are preferred upon submission, but not mandatory for this non-litigation role.
