Robotics, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
Description
Location: Rochester, NY
Work Arrangement: Full-time, onsite; travel up to 30%
Robotics Engineer II: $90,000 to $110,000 annually Robotics Engineer III: $120,000 to $135,000 annually
The Opportunity
Adaptec Solutions is seeking an experienced Robotics Engineer II or III to design, program, integrate, debug, and commission industrial robotic systems. This position is intended for candidates with applied FANUC programming experience beyond classroom-only exposure. The selected level will be based on experience, technical capability, and demonstrated ownership of robotic applications.
Important Location, Experience, and Work Authorization Requirements:
Onsite role. This full-time position must be performed onsite in Rochester, New York. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.
Relocation. Qualified candidates located elsewhere in the United States may be considered if they are willing and able to relocate and work onsite by the agreed start date.
Applied FANUC experience. Candidates must have hands-on experience creating, modifying, and troubleshooting FANUC programs on physical robotic equipment in an industrial, manufacturing, systems integration, commissioning, co-op, internship, or comparable applied setting. Classroom, training-lab, certification-only, or simulation-only experience does not meet this requirement.
Work authorization. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Adaptec Solutions will not sponsor applicants for employment visas and is unable to take over sponsorship now or in the future.
Requirements
What You Will Do- Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot FANUC robot programs for industrial automation systems.
- Teach points, validate robot motion, refine paths, and confirm safe, repeatable operation.
- Configure user frames, tool frames, payloads, tooling data, safe zones, and recovery routines.
- Support robotic cell build, integration, testing, debugging, startup, and commissioning.
- Integrate end-of-arm tooling, fixtures, sensors, interlocks, vision systems, and other peripherals.
- Optimize cycle time, motion efficiency, reliability, and overall cell performance.
- Diagnose issues using a structured approach across robot programming, controls, tooling, and application behavior.
- Maintain robot programs, backups, change records, commissioning documentation, and technical notes.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, manufacturing, project, and field-service teams.
- Support factory acceptance, customer acceptance, installation, and production-readiness activities.
- Contribute to robotics standards, reusable programming practices, and lessons learned.
- For Level III, provide technical leadership, application ownership, and mentoring for less-experienced engineers.
ROBOTICS ENGINEER II
Typically, 1 to 3 years of applied robotics programming and integration experience, with the proficiency to contribute with limited ramp-up.
- Works independently on defined robotic applications.
- Develops and modifies FANUC programs, paths, frames, and application settings.
- Participates in cell debug, startup, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoots robot, tooling, and integration issues with limited direction.
ROBOTICS ENGINEER III
Typically, 4 to 7 years of applied robotics programming and integration experience.
- Owns complex robotic applications from development through commissioning.
- Handles advanced integration, coordinated motion, optimization, and difficult troubleshooting.
- Leads technical execution during debug, startup, and acceptance activities.
- Guides other engineers and helps strengthen robotics standards and best practices.
