The Center for Translational Neuromedicine is a research-intensive department, with more than $13 million in annual sponsored research expenditures.
Base pay range$60,431.00/yr - $84,603.00/yr
Responsibilities- Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis of current and proposed business operations; oversees ongoing review and analysis of financial performance for the Center; functions as compliance officer responsible for interpreting and ensuring compliance of all financial requirements as specified per UR policy; prepares and presents detailed financial reports including trending and variance analysis.
- Able to analyze complex data, understand relationships among sources of information, and make independent assessments; works collaboratively with the Center and URMC leadership and other departments to support evaluation of the Center's operations and interests.
- Reconciles and analyzes monthly ledgers, analyzes expenses, researches and resolves issues with unknown expenses, and prepares and analyzes month-end financial reports using the URGEMS accounting system and UR Financials.
- Serves as liaison with Office of Research Accounting and Costing Standards (ORACS) for grant-related activities; identifies when journal entries are required and prepares submissions; oversees policies and procedures for accounting systems and financial reporting; prepares instructions for changes in accounting systems; interprets data; trains staff and advises on accounting and budgeting relationships; designs financial reports for management reflecting program operations.
- Manages faculty grant applications and sponsored project progress reports, including designing and developing financial reports and e-submissions; interprets University and federal policies relating to grants; acts as liaison with funding sponsors and central offices including ORPA and ORACS for grant activities.
- Oversees costs of animals by project; prepares and analyzes animal budgets and justifications for grant applications; reviews daily reports, identifies and corrects financial transaction errors, and recommends policy or procedure changes as appropriate.
- Collaborates with Center Directors to initiate and process Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs); organizes and supervises the work of other staff engaged in accounting procedures; advises on difficult problems and interpretation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
- 5 years of related experience required
- Strong analytical skills, spreadsheet analysis, attention to detail, ability to work independently with minimal supervision required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication required
