Hours Per Week: Per diem. Varying, available shifts dependent on pharmacy need.
Schedule: Most pharmacies are open 9a-5p; earliest shift starting at 7a; latest shift until 8p. Occasional Saturday shift from 7a-noon.
SUMMARYAs a Pharmacy Tech, your excellent organization skills and attention to detail make you a crucial resource within the unit and ensures quality patient care. Under pharmacist supervision, responds to and/or triages nursing phone calls, prepares medication orders, accurately delivers meds and restocks as necessary. Provide superior customer service by modeling the organization’s values.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Consistently, promptly and courteously assist/wait on customers, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Obtain all necessary personal, medical (allergies/conditions) and insurance information from patient. Record information on the prescription and entering appropriate information into the pharmacy computer. Pursuant to pharmacist’s order and designated work area, assist in filling patient prescriptions for pharmacist verification.
- Pulls or procures drug product and original prescription, counts and assesses reorder status.
- Receives requests for refills through automated process and otherwise (phone), and ensures proper requested information is processed and communicated to pharmacists in a courteous manner.
- Has thorough knowledge of “wholesaler” computer system. Ability to compile and send order, receives confirmation, assess availability of product (backorders etc.) and follow through with communication to staff members for problems.
- Assists in checking in the pharmaceutical orders, verifying invoices/packing slips with pharmacy order, stickers drug products/supplies and places them into stock. Maintains adequate supplies (dispensing bottles, computer labels, bags, Medela products, necessary pharmacy billing and signature logs, etc.)
- Completes “Return to stock” task, based on current schedule in pharmacy, and reports information to accounts manager.
- Monthly checks of the drug inventory for outdated drugs, remove and logs items in the designated returns area. CII’s are logged out of inventory log first, then removed to designated return area and logged again.
- Periodically throughout the day assesses cash register for appropriate change and retrieves as needed from cashier’s office.
- None, willing to train.
- National Pharmacy Certification required within 18 months of hire.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with hospital staff, patients and visitors.
- 1 year of work experience in a clinical, retail or healthcare setting.
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
