Job DescriptionAt the direction of a qualified physician the technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
Responsibilities- Perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration without requiring constant supervision.
- Adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data, completing procedures according to protocol.
- Administer PO, rectal and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors before contrast media administration.
- Communicate clear instructions to patients and explain procedures to allay fears and solicit cooperation.
- Identify patients properly with two patient identifiers, use universal protocol, review patient history, assess physician orders, apply departmental protocols for optimal results, and document in electronic record.
$40 an hour
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hours will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Job Requirements- Licensed Radiology Technologist in New York State.
- Minimum one year of CT experience.
- Certified to administer IV injections for CT exams within 6 months of hire, including maintaining a current BLS CPR certification.
