EMT Academy - Military Pipeline (Multiple Locations)

Military EMT Academy

American Medical Response (AMR) is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre‑hospital medicine through the Military EMT Academy. This position is not an open job role; this requisition is designed to build a pipeline of individuals interested in future EMT classes.

What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?

The primary focus of an EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight.

About the Program

The EMT Academy is a rigorous 8‑12 week program offered throughout the year which qualifies the employee to take the NREMT exam. There is no cost for the class, and all books, tuition, fees and uniforms will be paid by AMR. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state certification, the employee will be supported in their application for an EMT position at AMR.

Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have proof of a high school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Have all required immunizations
  • Successfully complete pre‑employment screening including motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing, and a physical agility test
  • Be an active‑duty service member within 180 days of Enhanced Active Service (EAS) with command approval
After Completing the Course

Upon completion, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test offered by the Department of Health, and once they receive state EMT‑B certification, they will be eligible to apply for a position with GMR.
