Document Control Clerk
The University of Rochester, a higher‑education institution committed to equity, integrity, and open dialogue, seeks an experienced Document Control Clerk to support patient record management across our health system.
Responsibilities- Prepares, scans, indexes, and performs quality checks on paper and virtual documents prior to placement in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Analyzes and resolves missing information such as barcodes and patient identifiers.
- Batches documents in proper order for prioritization, communicates with providers and office personnel when necessary, and ensures proper documentation and verification for placement into the EMR.
- Scans documents using imaging software that interfaces with the EMR, ensuring proper image quality and calibrating scanner as appropriate.
- Indexes each medical record document correctly using defined data elements, reviewing and determining proper alignment and readability.
- Performs quality checks on scanned documents to verify patient, account, and document type, determining corrections needed and ensuring documents are of acceptable quality.
- Approves final submission of scanned documents into the EMR and prepares, retains, and/or summarizes data, records, and reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Medical terminology and electronic medical records experience preferred.
$17.00 – $22.10 per hour. The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual salaries will be set within the range and determined by market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations.
