Title:

Director of Information Technology

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

    • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in Data Processing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other computer related field, plus five (5) years paid full‑time or its part‑time equivalent professional experience in information technology operations management, systems analysis, programming, or computer project management, one (1) year of which must have involved computer programming experience, AND one (1) year of which must have involved supervision of computer technological staff.

    • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above, plus six (6) years paid full‑time or its part‑time equivalent professional experience as defined in (A) above, one (1) year of which must have involved computer programming experience, AND one (1) year of which must have involved supervision of computer technological staff.

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

  • Professional experience, for the purposes of these minimum qualifications, does not include clerical, secretarial, or maintenance work experience.

  • Supervision, for the purposes of these minimum qualifications, involves typical duties such as assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, maintaining work standards, motivating and developing subordinate employees, implementing procedural changes, increasing efficiency and dealing with problems of absenteeism, morale and discipline. The supervision aspects must be an integral part of the job, not incidental or occasional.

Special Requirement

If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

  • Experience providing technical support and recommendations in an educational/multi‑site organization.

  • Organizational project management skills/experience.

  • Technical experience in Windows Server Management, Google Admin Console, Virtualization, Network Infrastructure, Power Shell, SQL.

  • Strong project and people management skills.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Coordinates and manages the Technology Support Services department in supporting the district Strategic Framework and district administrative operations.

Department Operations
  • Supervises and evaluates Information Technology staff.

  • Collaborates with the Executive Director on budgeting, staffing, department culture, and strategic decisions.

  • Maintains department Standard Operating Procedures and operational documentation and ensures they are followed and kept up to date.

  • Works with department staff to revise department processes for effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Coordinates training and professional development opportunities for department staff.

  • Oversees systems and processes that support users.

  • Evaluates effectiveness of support and customer satisfaction to inform improvements.

Project Management
  • Develops, monitors, prioritizes and manages information technology projects in service to the district and its departments.

  • Coordinates the district's work with BOCES and outside vendors to support district goals.

  • Develops Scope of Work and timelines in compliance with district data security and vendor management requirements.

  • Monitors project progress and reports to end users providing assistance and direction as needed to meet stated goals.
