Role OverviewThis position focuses on overseeing risk data processes and controls within Global Risk Management (GRM). The successful candidate will collaborate with data stewards, users, owners, technology teams, and business stakeholders to understand, assess, and improve data quality and risk controls across the organization.
Responsibilities- May manage or supervise a small group.
- Proactively monitor and remediate incoming data used in risk measurement and reporting.
- Ensure the completeness, validity, and accuracy of data on a daily basis.
- Work with business data users to define data use within risk systems.
- Collaborate with technology to ensure timely and accurate operation of risk models and reporting systems.
- Implement effective risk controls of data processes and systems.
- Participate in user acceptance testing of data control processes.
- Engage with teams such as Middle Office, Sales and Trading, Technology, Compliance, Operational Risk, and Enterprise Capital Management to ensure effective controls over data for GMRM.
- Consult with data stewards, process owners, subject matter experts, technical experts, end users, and other stakeholders to gather information about current and target state processes, data attributes, sources, controls, and interfaces.
- Document and provide definitions for processes and procedures, data models, data quality controls, data lineage, and data dictionaries using industry‑standard methods.
- Analyze information, reconcile conflicts, and abstract up from low‑level details to a general understanding.
- Assess and identify deficiencies against internal policies, standards, and industry best practices, providing formal recommendations and requirements to remediate.
- Collaborate with technology teams, architects, and other key stakeholders to drive solutions that provide operational excellence and resiliency.
- Review and provide input to technical solution designs from a business point of view and recommend alternatives.
- Communicate plans, progress, and risks appropriately to stakeholders and sponsors.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 1‑3+ years of experience with Data Sourcing, Data Wrangling, Data Engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong process and systems analysis, design, and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to monitor tight deadlines and adapt to unexpected requirement changes.
- Strong understanding of Risk Management and Data Management principles.
- Familiarity with areas such as Trading, Consumer Banking, Wealth Management, or Transaction Banking.
- Experience or knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, C/C++, or Java.
- Familiarity with databases (e.g., Oracle, Hadoop).
