RIT Co-op: Platform Engineer

SUMMARYAs an RIT Platform Engineer Co-op student, you will help build and run the automation that provisions accounts, manages environments and keeps these platforms healthy. You will see your work used every day. Our team runs the platforms that put AI tools in the hands of thousands of RRH colleagues, including Microsoft Copilot, Git Hub Copilot and Copilot Studio.

SCHEDULE:

M-F; full-time, days. This is a double-block co-op starting in January 2027.ATTRIBUTES Student at RITFamiliarity with some of:
Python, Git and Git Hub, APIs and JSON, automation and scripting, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), Docker, Git Hub Actions, SQL. Interest in CI/CD, infrastructure or platform engineering is a plus.

You are curious, self-motivated and excited to learn new technologiesRESPONSIBILITIESBuild and improve automation and pipelines for provisioning, licensing and monitoring using Python, scripting and Git Hub Actions Work in cloud environments (Azure) and help manage access and environments

Help monitor platform usage and health, and build tooling that flags problems early

Document how systems work so others can operate and extend them

Work with the Emerging Technology, Dev Ops and platform engineering teams, and with IT Security Help colleagues solve platform issues, and explain technical topics clearly

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing.

Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE.
