Sign Language Interpreter – VRS – Part Time – Rochester, New York
Salary Range: $25–$60 (depending on location, education, and certifications)
Location: Rochester, NY
Shifts: Monday–Saturday, 7 am–7 pm MT. Initially you will be asked to work at least one shift on Monday, Friday, or Saturday.

- A high school diploma or GED
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree (preferred, but not required)
- Interpreter certification
- 3 years’ experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required)
- Technical troubleshooting skills
- Fast‑paced, dynamic, highly regulated and customer‑service‑focused competence
- Hands & fingers dexterity to operate computer keyboard, mouse and tools
- Regular and predictable attendance
Sorenson Communications is expanding our Video Relay Service (). We seek Interpreters to provide Sign‑to‑Voice and Voice‑to‑Sign interpreting services. Full and part‑time positions are available in the US and Canada.
Responsibilities- Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
- Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
- Adhere to Sorenson standards, policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
- Adhere to Sorenson attendance policy
- Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet VRS industry demands
- Quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
- Work effectively in a team environment; provide and receive support from colleagues
- Operate effectively in an environment with oversight, including call monitoring, mentoring and evaluations
- Operate effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic, highly regulated environment
- Enhance interpreting skills through continued education and training
- Willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis
