Role Overview
We are looking for an Automated Equipment Mechanic (AEM) to support the Advanced Materials and Chemicals Division in Rochester, NY.
Responsibilities- Provide multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install, and improve chemical processing equipment and machinery (includes pneumatics, hydraulics, controls (PLC's), and electrical components).
- Fabricate to exact tolerances using lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment.
- Have experience or expertise in piping, HVAC equipment and controls.
- Achieve a high level of expertise of chemical process equipment for effective troubleshooting and equipment repair.
- Execute preventive maintenance program.
- Calibrate, align, and adjust with test equipment and production equipment.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
- HS diploma.
- Formal instrumentation, electrical, mechanical, and/or AEM training and demonstrated experience.
- Mechanical equipment repair training and/or demonstrated experience: pumps, mechanical seals, agitators, gear boxes, fans (bearings, sheaves), alignment.
- Demonstrate effective analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Able to read electrical, instrument and machine drawings.
- Able to read PLC programs to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent safety record – places safety and environment as top priority in all work.
- Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out.
- Understanding of electrical codes for hazardous environments (flammable liquids).
- Good communication skills – daily communications with maintenance planner, technical staff and operations as needed.
- Good team player – willing to be flexible, work in other areas and with other trades as needed.
2-year schooling and/or 5 plus years of demonstrated experience.
Work Schedule- Work schedule will be days initially and during shutdowns.
- Rotating Shift: 5-week rotations 4 times per year. Two, 12-hour days followed by two 12-hour nights, then 4 days off. Includes additional shift allowance pay.
