Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: City of Rochester

Rochester, NY | $25–$30/hour DOE | Onsite | Day Shift

Put your fitting and fabrication skills to work on complete steel assemblies. A confidential steel fabrication company is seeking a Welder Fabricator to build railings, stairs, and miscellaneous metals from shop prints.

The team needs someone who can own the work from material preparation through finished inspection. Welding is part of the process, alongside layout, bending, fit-up, assembly, and substantial material handling. The core shift is approximately 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, and overtime is optional when available.

Your Day to Day Work
  • Read the drawing, establish dimensions, and lay out the material for fabrication.
  • Prepare, fit, bend, assemble, and weld railing, stair, and miscellaneous steel components.
  • Check alignment and dimensions, correcting the assembly to match the print.
  • Use cutting, drilling, grinding, and torch processes; help with painting or finishing when needed.
  • Handle steel safely, work around cranes, and assist with beam, column, or other shop production.
Required Experience and Skills
  • 3+ years of hands‑on steel or metal fabrication experience with railings, stairs, miscellaneous metals, or comparable products.
  • Confident fabrication‑print reading and accurate tape‑measure use.
  • Proven layout, fit‑up, and assembly skills, including the ability to complete an accurate assembly with limited supervision.
  • Ability to perform the welding needed for fabricated assemblies and inspect the finished dimensions.
  • Willingness to handle materials and perform a broad range of shop tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work onsite on the stated day shift, follow safe shop practices, and learn additional equipment or processes.
Experience That Helps
  • Pipe bending for railings or direct stair fabrication.
  • Sheet bending and bending‑programming experience.
  • Structural steel fabrication or CNC/plasma‑table operation; transferable equipment experience is welcome.
What Makes It Worth a Look
  • Finish the core shift around 2 PM, with optional overtime opportunities.
  • Build finished products rather than staying on a single repetitive task.
  • Broaden your skills through cross‑training across fabrication processes.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options, with employer contributions toward benefits. Plan details are reviewed during hiring.
