ASPN II-Labor and Delivery
Family Maternity Center – 10 labor beds, 30 postpartum beds and a special care nursery. The unit is known for its outstanding care and for handling Rochester’s most newborns each year.
Position Summary
:
Provides professional nursing services for patients and their families and for the nursing department. Collaborates with other health‑care providers and team members to achieve expected patient outcomes and improve the care environment. The Level II RN under the direction of the Nurse Manager is accountable for competent patient care based on established standards and the nursing process. May assume expanded unit roles such as charge nurse or preceptor when available and appointed.
Supports peers in patient care delivery, uses appropriate team communication methods, and practices care that reflects patient condition and priorities. Provides support to team problem solving, identifies opportunities for self‑growth, and contributes to the development of other learners. Contributes to a safe unit environment and operations.
Pay Range
: RN 2 $ 38.76 – $50.33. The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job; individual salaries will be set within the range and determined by factors such as market data, education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

- Provide direct patient care in labor and delivery unit.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to meet patient outcomes.
- Use nursing process and evidence‑based practice to coordinate care.
- Assume charge nurse or preceptor roles as assigned.
- Support peers and contribute to unit problem solving.
- Identify growth opportunities and mentor learners.
- Maintain a safe unit environment and operations.
- Labor and Delivery experience required.
- Minimum six months RN experience at time of hire.
- Experience in Labor & Delivery preferred.
- BS in Nursing preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by New York State.
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers).
