Location: City of Rochester
Position Summary
Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a registered nurse with specialized education.
- Development of technical skills enables RNFA to assist the surgeon with intra‑operative procedures beyond scope of practice for nurses without RNFA training.
- RNFA may provide direct care to patients preoperatively, intra‑operatively and postoperatively using the nursing process.
- Intra‑operatively, RNFA functions interdependently with the surgeon and applies knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient.
- Activities RNFA can perform include cauterizing, suturing, incising skin, using instruments/medical devices, providing exposure, handling or cutting tissue, and providing hemostasis.
$46.00 – $59.55 per hour.
Qualifications- Education – Licensed as a registered nurse in NYS.
- Experience – Minimum 2 years as a Highland RN or 3 years RN experience from another provider.
- License/Certification – Certified RNFA with CNOR and RNFA program certificate; NP in RNFA role must have completed RNFA certification.
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers) upon hire.
- Computer skills – basic knowledge of PC, internet, and email.
Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Rochester, NY.
