Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN)
The ER RN is a highly skilled and compassionate nursing professional responsible for providing rapid, comprehensive care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent conditions. This role requires exceptional critical thinking, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment. The RN collaborates with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient‑centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with urgent and emergent needs
- Perform rapid patient assessments, including vital signs, triage, physical exams, and health histories
- Recognize and respond promptly to life‑threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and trauma>
- Administer emergency medications, treatments, and IV therapies as prescribed
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions and changes in condition
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and adjust individualized care plans
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and emergency surgeries
- Provide wound care, pain management, and stabilization for critically ill or injured patients
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow‑up care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as codes, rapid deterioration, and trauma alerts
- Support patient advocacy and uphold patient rights and confidentiality
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of practice
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience; ER experience preferred
- Completion of Amergis' Competency Program (if applicable)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (PALS preferred)
- Proficiency in emergency protocols and rapid assessment techniques
- TB screening and health clearance (as required by contract or regulation)
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Successful completion of new hire orientation and ER training
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English
- Basic computer literacy
- Must be at least 18 years of age
