American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a NY RN license and Epic charting experience.
Details- Adult/pediatric combined Emergency Department setting in a 528-bed acute care teaching hospital
- 13-week contract with alternating night (7p-7a) and day (11a-11p) shifts, 3x12 hours
- 1:5 patient ratio covering adult and geriatric patients with all emergency type diagnoses
- Uses specialized equipment including Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
- Epic EMR experience required
- Every other weekend requirement
- Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
- Floating required within skillset
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract without charge
- Active NY Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Experience with IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
- CPAP/BiPAP management and ventilator patient care experience required
- Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG
- Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior
- Emergency trauma care experience including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma
- Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
- Work in a state-of-the-art, 24/7 ED featuring a centralized layout, advanced diagnostics, a dedicated pediatric ED, a discreet crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite near the ambulance entrance
- Facility is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
- Hospital is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park
- Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility for RN consideration
- Returning staff must have at least 6 months since their last assignment, system wide
- Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
- All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront
