American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active NY RN license and at least 1 year of MS/Tele experience.

• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment
• Med/Surg Tele unit with day/evening nurse-to-patient ratios of 5:1 (stretch to 6-7:1) and night ratios of 6-7:1 (stretch to 8-10:1)
• PCTs on unit handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Float required within scope to ED boarders, ICU (stable), Med/Surg, and acute brain injury units (stable patients)
• Patient population includes cardiac, pulmonary, pain, GI, infection, and unmanaged diabetes diagnoses
• Uses bladder scanners, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, and Life Paks
• Epic EMR preferred

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Competency with phlebotomy and IV placement required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with rapid response/code teams
• Peripheral line care and management experience
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Non-invasive airway management skills required
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• Epic charting experience strongly preferred
• Teaching hospital and charge nurse experience preferred

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac, pulmonary, GI, and infection-related conditions on a Med/Surg Tele unit
• Scrubs must be navy, white, or a combination of both
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• No more than 1 week of RTO allowed per contract
