Responsibilities
  • Identify/design and interpret experiments related to phage recombinase-mediated integration of DNA.
  • Formulates research methods and approaches to answer specific questions aligned with overall laboratory research goals.
  • Investigate mechanisms dictating DNA fate in bacterial cells.
  • Scientific writing for manuscripts including design and construction of figures; proficient with Adobe suite and Prism software.
  • Supervision of students and training of laboratory members as needed.
  • Serves as a resource for standard protocols, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Perform experiments using techniques that include standard microbiology and molecular biology approaches, microscopy, cell signaling assays, immunofluorescence staining; write protocols.
  • Lab management responsibilities, including maintenance of records, ordering, and biosafety compliance.
  • Coordinates with and contacts outside vendors and technical representatives for routine equipment maintenance and supply inquiries; stays informed about trends in the field by reading professional journals and attending lab meetings and external meetings/seminars as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience
  • PhD Required
  • 2 years of relevant postdoctoral training or an equivalent combination of education and experience Required
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • Bacterial genetics of pathogens; willingness to be trained; assay development; data interpretation and presentation.
  • Protein biochemistry, cell biology/cell signaling; ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
