Retail Shortage Control - Part Time
Shortage Control Associate at Burlington Stores, Inc. – secure the shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Exhibit command presence at store entrances, exits, and high-risk areas to mitigate theft.
- Greet customers with a confident, friendly greeting and eye contact during every interaction.
- Monitor entrances throughout each shift to reduce opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and dishonest activities.
- Build trust and respect among customers and associates through confidence, a positive attitude, and expertise in shortage reduction programs.
- Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
- Remain vigilant and aware of surroundings while positioned at the front of the store.
- Promote a sense of control and security with a warm smile and loud, friendly greeting.
- Reduce opportunities for theft by creating a secure environment.
- Master knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
- Communicate theft prevention information during store rallies, collaborating with the Manager on Duty.
- Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.
- Understand your role in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.
- Support training of associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
- Role‑model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly.
- 1+ year customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations experience (preferred).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
- Positive demeanor, strong posture, energetic greeting.
- Work well in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
- Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.
- Leadership skills fostering productive business relationships.
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
