Shortage Control Associate at Burlington Stores, Inc. – secure the shopping environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

• Exhibit command presence at store entrances, exits, and high-risk areas to mitigate theft.
• Greet customers with a confident, friendly greeting and eye contact during every interaction.
• Monitor entrances throughout each shift to reduce opportunities for theft, shoplifting, and dishonest activities.
• Build trust and respect among customers and associates through confidence, a positive attitude, and expertise in shortage reduction programs.
• Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious subjects to the Manager on Duty.

• Maintain a professional appearance at all times, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
• Remain vigilant and aware of surroundings while positioned at the front of the store.
• Promote a sense of control and security with a warm smile and loud, friendly greeting.
• Reduce opportunities for theft by creating a secure environment.

• Master knowledge of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
• Communicate theft prevention information during store rallies, collaborating with the Manager on Duty.
• Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.
• Understand your role in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.

• Support training of associates on shortage reduction programs and processes.
• Role‑model safety as a top priority and address unsafe practices promptly.

• 1+ year customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations experience (preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to review, analyze, and comprehend business trends.
• Positive demeanor, strong posture, energetic greeting.
• Work well in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision making.
• Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.
• Leadership skills fostering productive business relationships.
