Harris’s Communication Systems segment is recruiting a Sr. Specialist, Software Engineer to join our Rochester, NY facility. This position follows a 9/80 work schedule.

Location: Rochester, NY
Schedule: 9/80 – nine hours per fourteen days, every other Friday off
Essential Functions- Proficient in embedded C/C++ with object‑oriented design, real‑time, multi‑threaded programming.
- Experience with real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks RTOS, Linux, and QNX.
- Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systems.
- Develop software test procedures, programs, and related documentation.
- Identify, track, and repair software defects.
- Work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary team environment.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and succinctly.
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum six years of relevant experience, or Graduate Degree with minimum four years of experience, or twelve years of related experience if no degree.
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket.
- Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience with Agile methodology.
- Experience with wireless networking software system design and development.
- Familiarity with RF concepts and technology.
Salary range: $95,000 – $177,000. Benefits include health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company‑paid holidays.
