We are seeking a passionate and committed Teacher of English to join a growing and ambitious department at an exciting point in its journey. The RoleTo deliver high-quality teaching and learning in English, supporting all students to achieve outstanding outcomes. You'll be teaching English to students across Key Stages, delivering creative and challenging lessons that foster a love of language and literature. You'll join a supportive department, committed to helping every pupil achieve their best.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons to students across all key stages, following the national curriculum and the school's schemes of work
- Assess, record and report on students' progress, providing effective feedback to support learning
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the English department, sharing best practice and supporting departmental initiatives
- Participate in department meetings, staff training and school-wide CPD opportunities
- Create a positive, supportive classroom environment with high expectations for all students
- Support the ethos, values and policies of The King Edmund School
For experienced candidates: take on additional responsibilities within the English department or across the wider school, as appropriate, contributing to our aim of developing one of the strongest English teams in Essex.
What We're Looking For- A degree, or equivalent experience, with a teaching qualification
- Proven ability to teach outstanding lessons across the 11-18 range, with first class classroom management skills
- The ability to work in collaboration with other members of staff to further the department
- Exceptional personal organisation and time management skills
- A firm understanding of key national and educational policies and issues
- The ability to inspire high achievement in young people from all backgrounds
- A clear commitment to improving your own and others' performance through effective continuous professional development
