Summary
The position of BSA/Compliance Assistant is responsible for assisting the BSA/Compliance Officer and BSA/Compliance Analyst to ensure timely implementation of procedures for regulatory compliance and all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) including any changes with laws and regulations.

The position of BSA/Compliance Assistant is responsible for assisting the BSA/Compliance Officer and BSA/Compliance Analyst to ensure timely implementation of procedures for regulatory compliance and all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) including any changes with laws and regulations.
In addition the BSA/Compliance Assistant assures compliance with all SVB policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking/trust and investment regulations.
Essential Duties
Assists BSA/Compliance Officer regarding BSA/Compliance issues and inquirie
Reviews reports for suspicious activity including currency transactions for proper filing
Analyzes transactions to determine if they are suspicious in nature and takes appropriate action and maintains proper documentation
Provides branch and customer support on day-to-day issues related to BSA/Compliance
Assists BSA/Compliance Officer in coordinating regulatory compliance examinations including BSA/USA Patriot Act, OFAC and related issues
Performs various administrative duties as directed by the BSA/Compliance Officer
Maintains knowledge of banking laws and regulations
Train staff on BSA/Compliance topics
Performs audit procedures for various compliance-related regulations, as directed by the BSA/Compliance Officer
Reviews SVB forms, disclosures, new account openings and account changes for completeness to ensure that they comply with applicable regulations and SVB policies.
Performs follow-up reviews, when necessary, to ensure all recommendations or weaknesses have been addressed
SECONDARY DUTIES
The position of BSA/Compliance Assistant performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned including the duty as Back Up to the BSA/Compliance Analyst.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position of BSA/Compliance Assistant is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s).
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.
The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 30 pounds), carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.

MENTAL DEMANDS
The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions.
Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, analysis or customer service background.
