Class B City Driver

Dohrn Transfer is a leading Midwest LTL Carrier providing less‑than‑truckload, truckload, and value‑added services throughout our 10‑state service area. Our drivers are home daily! We offer a competitive salary and a great benefit package in an exciting, rewarding industry.

Pay: $25.68/hour to start and $29.11/hour after the first year.

Hours: Monday - Friday, Dayshift.

Drive a straight truck between customer locations to deliver and pick up freight.

• Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight.
• Load and unload the truck, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers; use mechanical freight handling equipment where available.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
• Secure freight by strapping or other methods.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Comply with all Federal requirements regarding the transportation of Hazardous Materials.
• Operate a straight truck in all conditions in accordance with federal regulations, observing hours‑of‑service limitations and off‑duty periods as required.
• Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver logs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

• Minimum age of 21.
• Minimum one year of verifiable Class B equipment experience.
• Pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer.
• Maintain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on a valid driver’s license issued by the resident state.
• Only one valid CDL issued by the resident state; if transferred, produce former license or verification.
• No record of DUI, OWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Pass a DOT physical examination and functional screen.
• Consent to a pre‑employment drug screen; receive a negative result.
• Receive a negative controlled‑substances and alcohol result from prior employers for the past three years.
• No instance of refusing alcohol or controlled‑substance tests in the past three years.
• Consent to a 10‑year work‑history check; gaps of 30 days or more must be listed and explained.
• Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• At‑will employment; no guarantee of employment duration.

• Gripping and lifting up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45″.
• Lifting to waist level or 36″; front carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
• Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
• Sit up to 10 hours per day; stand and walk frequently.
• Climb, squat, crouch, balance, or kneel occasionally; crawl rarely.
• Reach and handle freight frequently while loading/unloading trailers and operating the steering wheel.
• Use vision constantly while driving, reading maps, inspecting the truck.
• Use hearing to detect unusual sounds or warnings of vehicle problems; use smell occasionally to check for leaks.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, gases, fumes, or chemicals.
