Chancel Choir Director-Part-time

Aldersgate UMC is seeking a part-time, experienced individual to serve as Chancel Choir Director
. Aldersgate UMC is located at 2115 Celanese Road in Rock Hill, SC. Position to start June 21, 2020
.

The Choir Director will work with the Pastor and Pianist/Organist to plan music for weekly worship services, and direct the Chancel Choir during the 10:30am weekly services as well as special services throughout the year. The role involves developing, growing, and supporting the music program.

Requirements:

• Music degree preferred
• Dependable and enthusiastic

Primary responsibilities include:

Direct, grow, and support the music program; schedule and support weekly choir rehearsals; coordinate extra rehearsals for seasonal and special programs; work with the Pastor to plan prelude, postlude, hymns, anthems, choral responses, communion music, offertory, and special music; provide accompaniment during services; coordinate music for weddings, memorials, and funerals; recruit choir members; participate in music workshops; and maintain a music library.

Administrative duties include attending worship committee and leadership team meetings, maintaining a music library, coordinating piano/organ tuning with Trustees, and managing backup choir/guest musicians when off duty.
